My Brothers Keeper

"Am I my brothers keeper? Yes I am". "What's yours is mine and what's mine is yours". We crew, dogs, friends, brothers and homeboys. These quotes, slogans and sayings all represent the special relationship we have with our friends. The misconception is that we all assume that our friends know what it takes and means to be a real friend. Its certain lines that cannot be crossed if you are a true friend and plan on remaining a true friend. Let me remind you that everyone isn't cut from the same cloth, live by the same code or share the same principles. For this reason alone I don't have many friends. I have plenty of associates, but this doesn't mean that I rocks with you, I'm not kicking it or hanging out at no spots with you. I wouldn't even pull up on the set and share the same block with you. I don't give passes because I met you in classes and we not automatically cool cause we attended the same school.

Someone asked me how would I feel if one of my friends slept with or became seriously involved with and ex-girlfriend of mine? Now I don't believe in standing in the way of someones happiness but I do believe in loyalty and respect. A real friend doesn't have to be given guidelines or rules when it comes to real friendship. For ex: One of my best friends knew I was dating this girl several years ago but it was long distance. This is before I realized that long distance relationships in my book are non existence. My bro let me know the moment I came in town that my so called girl was banging his cousin. Now I didn't ask him to watch her while I was away, but somethings just go without being said. That's my bro to this day and even though my girl was banging his cousin, he still felt obligated to let me know. I don't put too much stock into everyone claiming to be a friend because I know the truth. Friendship is proven not stated. A true friend wouldn't dare be with someone I was seriously involved with especially without my blessings period.

I had a roommate in college we were both from the same hometown. We met these two girls, best friends from California and began dating them full time. Now this roommate and I weren't best friends but cool enough to room together being from the same city and attended the same high school. We hung everyday, kicking it on campus, got into fights together and we had each others back at least I thought. We actually help form an organization called Studio Tyme and called each other brothers. Well long story short, we end up breaking up with the California girls, but not before he had kids by both girls and is now married to the girl I was seeing. Its not the fact that he a foul cat, but he couldn't come holler at me like a man and we supposed to be like brothers...please! I have obviously moved on, but this is confirmation that some of your so called dogs, boys, girls, partners etc don't really care about you like that, unless its something in it for them.

Trust wisely!
AM I MY BROTHERS KEEPER?????????????YES I AM
